Today...
was a rather momentous occasion in all our lives, most particularly this firstborn child of mine.
After a breakfast of bacon and eggs, enjoyed while taunted by her siblings about the cold gruel she will have to endure tomorrow,
the car was packed
and we headed for town.
Where we set up the following new home for our beautiful girl.
And said our goodbyes.
The start of a brand new chapter.

ReplyDeleteOh dear! How did you go? Love the bedspread. She'll be fine, I'm sure, and will come to love it. Be brave Fiona. Sending you a cup of Billy Tea, milk, two sugars. And tissues.
ReplyDeleteMare
Have a lovely day tomorrow! I love the fact that in the pic she just is positively beaming with happiness! Mine is off to prep tomorrow :)
ReplyDeleteOh Fiona. You have such a knack of capturing these precious milestones so gorgeously. Well done, mama! J x
ReplyDeleteOh - I will think of you.... Hope it goes well for you all. She looks like such a lovely young lady in those photos....
ReplyDeleteHave been thinking about all those children starting out as boarders today......a big milestone for all of you. She will blossom, I'm sure. Just relieved it isn't our turn for a few more years......
ReplyDeleteI wonder if she is with the kids of my friends tonight? We might have to confer...

Fiona - hoping tonight was not too painful for you. She will have the time of her life. xx
ReplyDeleteOh Fiona! How brave you are! I am anxious about starting high school a couple of miles down the road. We met some sweet boarders at the uniform shop last week. The school has asked for volunteer mums to bake and provide some mumness for the boarders since the days my brothers went there. I'm sure she'll love it as much as they did!
ReplyDeleteAnd mine wants to get away with Only taking one bag with him hahahahaha. He goes back in today. We are still trying to get him to pack. One suitcase is full of uniform.
ReplyDeleteHi Fiona, BIG DAY ! Love the the bright cheery bedding and the photos of her two and four legged family,
ReplyDeletemakes me a little teary.................
Such a big step for your girl and the whole family.
ReplyDeleteBe strong. x
That first photo, a beautiful young lady, moving away, walking towards .... Says it all really. Love how her cubicle is decorated with memories on the wall, the bright colours.... I just love everything about this post. As they say in NZ, "Kia kaha" (be strong).
ReplyDeleteCome the end of the year, I'm sure her pin board will be stocked with heaps of wonderful memories. gxo
ReplyDeleteWishing you both good luck for today. I'm sure you'll both be fine x
ReplyDeleteThat looks exactly like my 'room'(a.k.a. corner) at boarding school. The accommodation may not have changed much in 20 years but I hope the food has!
ReplyDeletewhilst stuck in the schoolroom teaching our 2 kids i often daydream about boarding school....even though i know im going to hate it more than them!! hope all goes well and im sure she will have a blast once she is settled in, The Driller informs me (and his 4 siblings) they had the best time at boarding school once they got over the initial shock of becoming a boarder!
ReplyDeleteI've been trying to comment for the past few days and finally blogger is letting me!
ReplyDeleteHow did it all go? I hope you were brave, she certainly looks as though she was!
(( hugs)) how's mama coping!? xx
ReplyDeleteOh Fiona, I can only imagine! I hope she is getting settled in and that you aren't too heartbroken. You guys did a great job with her room. It looks like it suits her!
ReplyDeleteI missed this post. I wondered how you were all fairing with boarding school. I hope you've coped okay. What a huge step in everyone's lives.
