In my own Mind

Despite a slackening off period over Christmas, I'm still chipping away at this running gig.  A niggling lower leg injury coupled with my desire to enjoy rum balls, white christmas and choc-hazelnut pavlova saw my ability to cover over 9K slip back to the 5K range early this year.

Now back at around the 7K mark, in my own mind I look very much like this.

A post-run image captured by Jessie just yesterday tells a far different story.

I don't know where I'm going wrong.

  1. That other runner is staring at the sky, a sure fire way to go down, you are well and truly 'grounded'.
It's not about what you look like when training but the end result.

  2. well I dunno Fiona, considering I would be laying flat out on the ground sucking in as much oxegen as I could after just ONE KM (hah! I doubt I would even MAKE it to the one mark!) I can't see a single thing wrong with that photo of you after SEVEN! (I don't think you are meant to finish looking all polished and non sweaty.Isn't the point of it all to get sweaty and tired?!)

and if you FEEL like the top photo, well then all is just fine!

  4. Fiona! If you can run 7 km you are an Olympic mama in my eyes. I have non- runner breastage and will never be a runner. I cycle or swim but it's been a while. Go girl!

  8. You're doing great Fiona! Any time that I have taken some time off I have to build my distance back. Just keep at it and you'll be running a longer distance at a faster pace in no time!

  9. Hence why I exercise while there is no one around to document the truth!

  10. One of my children once took a photo of me after a run. I was so red in the face and distressed looking, I almost gave up all exercise convinced that if I looked that bad, it couldn't be good for me. Keep that mental image and keep at it!!
