  1. That looks amazing. Nearly as good as your kitkat cake from days gone by.
Oh, now I feel like Rainbow cake.
    On ya Fiona. Ha.
Hope it is a wonderful day.

  2. That is a glorious cake, well done. Now I feel bad about the skull cake I had the lady at the cake shop make for my little fella's birthday tomorrow. Enjoy the day.

  5. What a masterpiece! I am having serious rainbow cake guilt right now - we have 3 birthday cakes to make this week and I so wanted to make this cake for our 8yr old this year but I just didn't manage it. There's always next year! Hope she has a wonderful birthday tomorrow. Mel x

  6. Oh my good grief! It's spectacular! I can only dream of making one! Can't wait to see some photographic evidence of the reaction when it's revealed!

  7. That is a brilliant cake! I might make one next week for the kids for no particular reason other than it looks like fun.

  8. and now I am feeling depressed about the cake I was going to make for Monday's birthday in this house...along similar lines, but becuase a. I am a lazy cow and b. it has to be a giant slab to feed 17 kids, I was just going to do four layers, of random bright colours. I can guarantee that it will NOT look nearly as gorgeous as this, gosh you have your colours bright and I love the combination! I look forward to seeing how you carry out the icing, after our dicussion a while back, and look forward to the pointers! (what great timing for me really!)

  9. ps never fear I have not forgotten the kit kat cake, I plan to wheel that one out in two weeks for the next birthday (I really should have planned the birth dates a little better!)although again in souped up sizing to feed the school. I think I'll be using those choc finger biscuits again instead though, seeing as it will be akin to fencing a holding paddock by the time I get around the cake!

  10. That looks so spectacular. I had thought the bowls of colour were paint. Now I see they were something much more yummy.

  12. Oh you did it! Well done Fiona - it takes a lot more colouring than you expect doesn't it? I hope the double coat icing works well for you, it did for me ... have fun cutting it - it sort of collapses if you don't use straws or something to hold it together. Not that you will need to worry, it gets eaten very quickly!

  13. Wow!! Looks fantastic Fiona!! One question - what sort of food colouring do you use to get such brilliant colour? Happy birthday to one of yours!
