But I Wasn't Looking

When your husband starts a conversation with "If you're looking for something to do...", rest assured it isn't because he's booked you a foot massage or a manicure.

Last week it was cutting hay, this week it's fencing.

But as a prelude to the fencing there's a couple of days of lantana spraying to be done along the line.

The funny thing is, I wasn't actually looking for anything to do at all.

  1. oh gawd, nothing riles me more than that "if you are looking for something" or even worse "if you have NOTHING to do"...realistically, do we ever have NOTHING to do?!!

  2. It's usually the other way around in my house! I'm usually the one who says "If you're looking for something to do, can you clean the bathroom." I'm not surprised that he runs as soon as he hears the words "If you ...."

  3. I'm with Sim here! He usually busies himself up really quickly when I ask for him to do a job!

  4. Don't knock back a bit of experience fencing. It's knowledge you keep with you all your life, just ask me or Clarkie or Selly. Your lucky to have a good teacher.

  5. I feel like that phrase is a nice way of saying "So there are some things I'd like for you to do" without coming right out and saying it. Perhaps I will use that line when I show Allan the to do list for the weekend.

  11. Oh that's GOLD, Fiona. I mean, when are we EVER looking for something to do?! That said, reading this makes me more motivated to do my "heavy" work of... ah... turning the compost. For shame! x

  12. I'm with you. There seems to have been an awful lot of "if you need something to do" around here too. Plus "would you mind just checking..." as well. Never enough time is there. *sigh*
