No More Teachers, No More Books

Today marks the last school day for us for 2012.  Official break up proceedings were yesterday with presentations last night, today being more of a packing and cleaning up day.  Sarah's heading in to help out, another perk of these little schools.  It was as though she'd never been away to see her back with her mates yesterday.

After a morning at school consisting of three-legged races, egg and spoon relays, indians and teepees and other madcap fun, we headed to the pool for some water action.  Able to leave early, allowing those further afield to get home, whack some aloe vera on the sunburn, frock up and head back in for Presentation Evening.  Unfortunately I only pulled the camera out for the morning's activities.

Teachers will have to deal with tired kids today.

My Christmas mojo seems to be flagging.  Undoubtedly with children home next week there'll be some stirring up of seasonal excitement.  With calves to brand and hay to cut as well as another town trip thrown in, we'll certainly fill in this first week of holidays with little time for boredom.

  1. we've slowly been getting into a holiday routine as we broke up last more lunches, and the kids tend to free range graze all day! (and don't seem to have been in contact with a hairbrush since holidays started either!)

same happens at our school, the big kids end up back there helping out and joining in the fun. Kids and teachers alike love it. And it builds a love of community doesn't it!

  2. Hooray for the last day! I know you and the kids will enjoy the holidays and I can't wait to see what all you guys do.

  3. They all look pretty happy! Christmas for us comes at the 'dead' time of year when not much else is happening. It must be hard to fit in, with all the summer tasks.
